Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of learning activity of seventh grade students on the material of Thaharah Hadas and Najis in Semester I of the 2022/2023 Study Year at SMP Negeri 1 Simpang Tiga. The learning model used is Cooperative Learning. The main problem formulation in this study is how to increase Islamic Religious Education learning activities by applying the Cooperative Learning model at SMP Negeri 1 Simpang Tiga. The research subjects consisted of 20 students of class VII, focusing on the application of the Cooperative Learning model to increase student activity in Islamic Religious Education lessons. Data collection methods involved observation and tests. The purpose of this study was to increase student activity in understanding the material of faith in the books of God and the material of Thaharah Hadas and Najis through the application of the Cooperative Learning model in class VII SMP Negeri 1 Simpang Tiga. The research approach used is quantitative with the type of class action research. Data were obtained through pretest, posttest, and observation. The final test results showed that in cycle I, 4 students (33.33%) did not reach the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) value, while 8 students (66.66%) reached the KKM value. In cycle II, only 1 student (9.09%) did not reach the KKM score, while 10 students (90.09%) reached the KKM score. The average percentage score of student activity in learning increased from 3 in cycle I to 3.33 in cycle II. Thus, it can be concluded that the Cooperative Learning model succeeded in increasing student learning activities on the material of aspiring to be righteous in class VII SMP Negeri 1 Simpang Tiga.
